Legal expert and Sallie Mae veteran joins international consultancy, providing in-house general counsel as Chief Legal Officer and leading the creation of litigation/dispute/regulatory resolution consulting practice.
Washington, D.C. – December 19, 2013
MorganFranklin Consulting, a leading business consulting and technology solutions company based in McLean, Va., and London, today announced that Eric Reicin has been appointed Vice President and General Counsel for the international consulting firm. Reicin will serve as Chief Legal Officer for MorganFranklin Corporation and lead the creation of a litigation/dispute/regulatory resolution consulting practice. He will fulfill multiple internal and external roles, assuming responsibility for the Contracts department, absorbing legal duties that were previously outsourced, and externally growing a new revenue-producing solution.
“As we continue to focus internally and externally for greater growth and success, I am delighted to enhance MorganFranklin’s executive team by welcoming Eric Reicin as Vice President and General Counsel,” said C.E. Andrews, CEO of MorganFranklin Consulting. “In addition to strengthening our in-house capabilities, I believe in the growth opportunities within the litigation/dispute/regulatory resolution consulting arena, and Eric brings the expertise, experience, and relationships that will be critical to building this new practice.”
Reicin comes to MorganFranklin from Sallie Mae, one of the country’s largest lenders, where he most recently served as Senior Vice President and Deputy General Counsel. He spent the past 14 years working in senior legal roles at Sallie Mae, partnering with the executive business team. Reicin gained valuable expertise providing strategic and operational legal advice to the company and several subsidiaries. He led a team of attorneys and professionals based in six cities and also led the bankruptcy litigation operations group. As Deputy General Counsel, Reicin served as the company’s chief litigation, labor and employment, collections, government contracts, and intellectual property attorney. As leader of the legal risk mitigation group, he was also responsible for managing legal support to several subsidiaries, the Board of Directors Audit Committee, and the Sallie Mae Political Action Committee (PAC), and he provided secondary legal support to other subsidiaries, mergers and acquisitions (M&A), and board governance.
Reicin is active in the legal community and has worked closely with in-house counsel at Fortune 500 companies nationwide. He currently serves on the international board of the Association of Corporate Counsel (ACC), which has a presence in 80 countries. Reicin previously served as president of the Washington Metropolitan Area Corporate Counsel Association (WMACCA), the largest regional in-house bar association. He currently serves on the advisory boards of the Georgetown University Law Center Corporate Counsel Institute and the American Employment Law Council (AELC). Reicin is the management chair of the American Bar Association Section of Labor and Employment Law EEO Committee, and he recently served on the faculty of the Virginia State Bar Professionalism Course.
Earlier in his career, Reicin was a litigator at law firms in Washington, D.C., and Chicago. He received his Juris Doctor degree from the University of Illinois College of Law and his Bachelor of Arts degree in economics and political science from the University of Michigan.
