Annual charity golf tournament benefiting wounded military veterans to be held on August 29, 2011, at The Courses at Andrews Air Force Base.

Washington, D.C. – August 2, 2011
MorganFranklin Corporation, a business and technology consulting firm that delivers financial management, performance improvement, and national security solutions to government and industry clients, announced that it will host the seventh annual MorganFranklin Golf Classic benefiting the Wounded Warrior Project on Monday, August 29, 2011. The event will be held at The Courses at Andrews Air Force Base in Maryland, and proceeds will benefit the Wounded Warrior Project (WWP), which assists men and women of the armed forces who have been severely injured in conflicts around the world. To date, the MorganFranklin Golf Classic has raised more than $410,000 in cash and in-kind contributions for the WWP in support of its mission to honor and empower wounded veterans.

“Since 2005, this event has attracted an outpouring of support for returning heroes who have sacrificed so much for our freedom and security,” said Robert Morgan, CEO and co-founder of MorganFranklin. “We are proud to bring together members of the local business community to support the Wounded Warrior Project’s critical mission and honor our nation’s greatest citizens. I am confident that this year’s tournament will follow in this tradition and help the WWP continue to provide valuable services to our injured and recovering veterans.”

Last year’s sold-out event drew a record-breaking 250 golfers, marking the second consecutive year that the MorganFranklin Golf Classic reached capacity. Each year, members of the WWP and several wounded warriors participate in the tournament to help raise awareness for the organization’s mission. From battlefield to bedside, the WWP meets the needs of service members who have suffered traumatic injuries that often force them to retire from military service, including more than 40,000 individuals who have been wounded in recent conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan. The funds raised by the tournament help the nonprofit organization provide services and programs that ease the burdens of the most seriously wounded veterans and their families by aiding in the recovery process and smoothing the transition back to civilian life.

The MorganFranklin Golf Classic features 18 holes of golf on two courses, as well as a variety of contests. Player registration opens on August 29 at 12:30 p.m., and the tournament begins at 2:00 p.m. Following play, golfers are invited to attend the 19th Hole Awards & Dinner Reception and silent auction. Space is limited for this premier golf event.
