Annual Charity Tournament Benefiting Wounded Military Heroes to be Held on August 30, 2010, at The Courses at Andrews Air Force Base.

MorganFranklin Corporation, a business and technology solutions provider to government and business leaders on high-stakes financial, operations, and IT issues, announced today that it will host the sixth annual MorganFranklin Golf Classic benefiting the Wounded Warrior Project on Monday, August 30, 2010. The event will be held at The Courses at Andrews Air Force Base in Maryland, and proceeds will help support the Wounded Warrior Project(WWP), which assists men and women of the armed forces who have been severely injured in conflicts around the world. The tournament generated over $67,000 in donations last year, and MorganFranklin has donated more than $332,000 to date in cash and in-kind contributions to the WWP.

Last year’s sold-out event drew a record-breaking 248 golfers, marking the first time that the MorganFranklin Golf Classic reached capacity. Reminding golfers of the event’s purpose, several wounded warriors and members of the WWP compete in the tournament each year to raise awareness for the organization’s mission. From battlefield to bedside, the WWP meets the needs of service members who have suffered traumatic injuries that often force them to retire from military service. The funds raised by the tournament help the nonprofit organization provide programs and services that ease the burdens of the most seriously wounded veterans and their families, and in the recovery process, smooth the transition back to civilian life.
“With the increased number of wounded warriors returning from duty in Afghanistan and Iraq, events like the MorganFranklin Golf Classic are instrumental in assuring that the Wounded Warrior Project can continue to provide unique, direct programs and services to meet the needs of severely injured service members,” said R.J. The MorganFranklin Golf Classic features 18 holes of golf on two courses, as well as prizes for overall team placement and contests for putting, hitting the longest drive, and landing closest to the pin. Player registration opens on August 30 at 12:30 p.m., and the tournament begins with a shotgun start at 2:00 p.m. Following play, golfers are invited to attend the 19th Hole Awards Reception and silent auction, which features luxury items, golf equipment, and collectible sports memorabilia. Space is limited for this premier golf event.
