MorganFranklin Directors Dee Mirando-Gould and Ricky White to join fellow accounting and tax leaders to share year-end updates on accounting, SEC, and mergers and acquisitions.

Washington, D.C. – December 10, 2013
MorganFranklin Consulting, a leading business consulting and technology solutions company based in McLean, Va., and London, announced that two of the firm’s experts will participate in a 2013 Year-End Accounting and Tax Update on Dec. 11, co-sponsored by MorganFranklin Consulting, BDO US, LLP, and Hogan Lovells. Senior Technical Director Dee Mirando-Gould and Director Ricky White will join fellow accounting and tax professionals from across the Washington, D.C., metro area to discuss hot topics in the areas of accounting and financial reporting, as well as ways to maximize tax savings. The event is being held at the Tysons Corner Marriott from 7:30am to 6:00pm.

The seminar will highlight timely year-end updates and provide key takeaways on hot topics relevant to both public and private companies. Topics include updates on Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) and U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) accounting; international, federal, and state tax; compensation and benefits; and mergers and acquisitions (M&A). Special guest speakers include Len Forkas, founder of Milestone Communications and Hopecam, Inc., and Dennis Greene, President of Business Operations for the Washington Redskins.

“MorganFranklin Consulting is honored to partner with BDO and Hogan Lovells for the 2013 Year-End Accounting and Tax Update. We are eager to share our technical expertise and discuss operational considerations on important topics such as revenue recognition and lease accounting, and provide our perspective on current market drivers of M&A activity,” said Chris Mann, Managing Director at MorganFranklin Consulting.

In the first of her two sessions, Mirando-Gould will be joined by BDO Assurance Partner Jim Hayden to deliver the “Accounting Update.” The duo will cover the status of FASB convergence projects, including revenue recognition, leases, financial instruments, and insurance contracts. Mirando-Gould will also present the “SEC Update” with BDO Assurance Partner Mike Hottel. Attendees will learn about Public Company Accounting Oversight Board (PCAOB) standard-setting activities, recent rulemaking of the SEC, and frequent areas of SEC comments, including those pertaining to initial public offerings (IPOs).

Joining a panel of elite M&A subject matter experts, White will discuss “What to Know About Mergers and Acquisitions.” The panel will discuss M&A activity over the past year, expectations for 2014, and the challenges companies are facing when closing M&A deals.
