GREAT TEAMS START WITH GREAT PEOPLE.
Meet Chris Wagner.
What is your role at MorganFranklin, and what do you do?
I am a manager in our Risk & Regulatory practice. I assist companies with identifying risks within their Business & IT Processes, and I develop mitigating strategies to help minimize the impact of these risks. I specifically focus on Financial Reporting Controls & implementing programs to help companies comply with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX).
What do you particularly enjoy about the work you do, and why did you choose to work at MorganFranklin Consulting?
I enjoy helping companies develop efficient control environments that effectively mitigate the risk related to financial reporting. Complying with Sarbanes-Oxley can take up a significant amount of bandwidth within a company, and developing a right-sized control environment can ease the burden on a company’s Accounting & Finance departments.
We’ve heard you enjoy volunteering in your free time. Can you share with us what draws you to volunteer work and what it means to you?
I have been involved with giving back since a very young age, as it was a principle that my parents instilled in my siblings and me. I am drawn to volunteering because every selfless act, even a small one, can help make the world a better place. I believe that we are all held responsible for improving our communities.
What advice would you give someone hoping to pursue a career at MorganFranklin?
MorganFranklin is a very entrepreneurial company, so be willing to take on the new opportunities that come your way. There will be many unique opportunities at MorganFranklin, so be ready when the opportunity presents itself.
What are some parallels between your role at MorganFranklin and one of your favorite pastimes: golf?
Each shot on a golf course requires critical thinking & the evaluation of a significant number of factors (wind, distance, elevation change, etc.) that could impact a shot. When helping our clients design & implement control programs, it is essential to consider all factors (Personnel, Systems, Regulatory Requirements, etc.) that impact the control environment.
My favorite player is Justin Thomas because he is also a University of Alabama grad.
My favorite course I have played was Old Toccoa Farms, which is in North Georgia.
What is one thing you have enjoyed learning since joining MorganFranklin?
I enjoyed learning about the intricacies of the various industries for the clients I’ve worked with. I have worked with clients in the Financial Services, Cannabis, SaaS, & Automotive industries. It’s exciting to learn about each industry, & the varying perspectives of clients in each sector.
Where was the most interesting place you traveled to (domestic or international), and why?
So far, the most interesting place I have been to was Cinque Terre, Italy. The area is a grouping of relatively quaint Italian cities tucked into the cliffs overlooking the Mediterranean, and it’s just one of the most incredible places to visit.
Bonus question – where to next?
The next trip I want to do is Greece.
