GREAT TEAMS START WITH GREAT PEOPLE.
Meet Gonzalo Saenz
Give us one sentence that uniquely describes you.
Each day, I am driven by the opportunity to be better than I was yesterday.
Please tell us about your professional background and what led you to pursue a career at MorganFranklin.
After completing my undergraduate studies at George Mason University, I gained valuable experience working for a CPA firm. During my tenure, I also launched a small event-marketing and promotion company while completing my MBA.
MorganFranklin’s strong brand and powerful mix of talent that is well known in the industry for delivering value to its clients and valuing its people, is what led me to pursue a career in the development and execution of the firm’s growth strategies in San Diego.
What is your role at MorganFranklin, and what do you do?
As part of the leadership team in the Pacific Southwest (PSW), I serve my primary client by delivering quality services and developing relationships they value. I aim to provide input/insight in the development of our people; capitalizing on networking opportunities to drive business related growth and meet or exceed our operating metrics.
What appealed to you about a career working in audit readiness?
I truly enjoy interacting with clients, understanding their needs, solving their pressing business issues, and working with a highly skilled group of talented professionals to offer value-building recommendations. Our multi-lens approach is a key differentiator that allows us to deliver more value in less time.
How have you taken ownership of your career at MorganFranklin in a remote setting? How do you ensure you stay close with your peers and clients while working from San Diego?
Staying connected, building an effective network, fostering a healthy group dynamic, and being an active member of the firm. We have a unique group of talented professionals in the Pacific Southwest who meet frequently for social events. We also get together at least once a month for a staff meeting and happy hour. Frequent trips back to Washington, DC also allow me to stay in touch with other MorganFranklin colleagues and friends.
What has been your favorite MorganFranklin project, and why?
My favorite project has been advising our clients within the Public Sector while broadening our footprint within the Pacific South West (PSW). There have been many opportunities to build a meaningful working relationship, allowing me to fully earn their trust. In addition, as the second MorganFranklin employee in San Diego, I have enjoyed the opportunity to champion the MorganFranklin WayTM and strengthen our brand in the market.
What advice would you give to someone hoping to pursue a career at MorganFranklin?
MorganFranklin is a great firm with many opportunities to excel professionally and expand your skill sets. Three important keys to success are: an investment of time, taking ownership, and having a diverse cross-dimensional group of supportive colleagues (i.e. functional expertise, education, or personality).
At MorganFranklin, it is also important to be entrepreneurial-minded, have a passion for superior client service, and have a knowledge — and hunger for — running and growing a business. I would like to see what their thoughts/perceptions are related to four key tenets – People, Quality, Growth, and Operational Excellence. Developing people with balanced skills in these areas tends to indicate a well-rounded business savvy individual
What does an ideal Saturday look like for you?
An ideal Saturday would involve dirt biking in the California desert, surfing at one of our many beaches in San Diego, or simply grilling by the pool. There are many ways to enjoy time with family and friends in a city where it is usually 75 and sunny!
