Meet Bill Meagher.

What is your role at MorganFranklin, and what do you do?

I specialize in Business Development for our Southeast market. My role here at MorganFranklin is to open doors, drive opportunities, and help close sales. I focus on getting in front of C-Level executives at middle market and large, global companies.

Please tell us about your professional background and what led you to pursue a career at MorganFranklin.  

I spent several years in the financial services sector, both as a leader and in sales roles. I learned the art of referred/warm leads and how to approach people to discuss their business and (in the old days) personal issues they were facing. It made me interested in management consulting as I learned how often people and companies struggle to get things done. There were a few people at MorganFranklin I knew well and when they decided to open an Atlanta office, I was in!

What characteristics do you need to be successful in your role at MorganFranklin?  

Perseverance and having a sense of urgency: the discipline to focus on getting in front of prospects every day! The spirit of collaboration is also a key characteristic, as it takes a combination of relationship skills, subject matter expertise, and solution expertise to drive sales/revenue.

What has been the most interesting client you have worked with at MorganFranklin, and why?

A Fortune 100 client who engaged us to review and assess how well they were complying with their existing ERM Framework. The highlight of the project was stakeholder interviews with the Chairman/CEO, CFO, Chief Strategy Officer, and the Chairman of the Audit Committee.

How have you taken ownership of your career at MorganFranklin?  

As in most mid-sized firms, you need to be proactive in what you are doing. Whether it is deciding which target companies you would like to pursue or what capabilities the firm is really good at, you need to reach out internally and ask the right people to educate you. In many cases, this involves going on sales calls with those people to learn firsthand what they do as well asthe best way to communicate that to the marketplace.

You are known for being an excellent networker! What is the best way to build meaningful connections with others in professional settings?

Find out what you might have in common (family, sports, friends, hobbies, etc.), and focus on those. Ask open-ended questions to get them talking, and then listen, listen, listen!

What advice would you give to someone hoping to pursue a career at MorganFranklin?

Spend time learning as much about the firm as you can. Talk to people on the leadership team, and figure out the value you can provide and what assistance you will need to be successful.

What activities do you enjoy doing during your free time?

Golf, exercise, time with family, time with friends, and watching my Auburn Tigers compete in anything!
