GREAT TEAMS START WITH GREAT PEOPLE.
Meet Alex Salcedo
What are three words your friends and colleagues would use to describe you?
Integrity, dependable, and light-hearted.
What is your role at MorganFranklin? What do you do, specifically, in your everyday work?
I am a Senior Manager here at MorganFranklin. The best part about my role is that I have the opportunity on a daily basis to address our client’s most complex technical accounting and finance challenges. For example, I recently worked on a number of technical accounting projects, including going concern memo and asset coverage ratio analysis presentation, as well as financial modeling to help a client raise $400 million in debt financing. I have also had the opportunity to leverage my finance expertise around technology and business analytics.
Please tell us about your professional background and what led you to pursue a career at MorganFranklin.
I have over 20 years of experience delivering solutions across a range of strategic, growth, and operational initiatives to industry clients and prominent investment firms. I have extensive experience in technical accounting and transaction services initiatives, including financial planning and analysis, post-merger integration, business consolidations, SEC reporting, IT account migration, investment modeling, market and credit risk analysis, investment valuation analysis, and new product development.
MorganFranklin offered an excellent opportunity to do accounting and transaction services–related work for a highly reputable, progressive-minded advisory services firm. The culture just seemed to be a very good fit. In addition, the firm’s ongoing expansion into New York and the broader Northeast is extremely exciting.
What has been your most interesting client that you have worked with at MorganFranklin, and why?
In just a few months I have already worked with engaging clients. The most interesting from a complex modeling standpoint was a cancer treatment center that needed help raising $400 million in municipal bond debt, as referenced earlier.
From a technology standpoint, I had the opportunity to work with a low Earth orbit (LEO) satellite company on an asset coverage ratio analysis presentation that involved understanding broadband spectrum auctions—a quite interesting and complex endeavor.
As MorganFranklin’s presence expands across the country, how do you stay integrated and connected?
We collaborate quite a bit across the firm to stay apprised on what we’re all doing across markets. As a firm, we regularly share knowledge and best practices. In addition, we frequently host networking events in different cities to bring colleagues from different areas of the business and in different markets together to engage with our clients, prospects, and partners.
What is your proudest moment at MorganFranklin, and why?
My proudest moment thus far was having the opportunity to save a client a significant amount in research costs. I developed technical models and subsequent presentations based on those models by deriving required data points through conversations with various national and international government agencies.
What advice would you give to someone hoping to pursue a career at MorganFranklin?
Tap into your professional network to make a connection with someone at MorganFranklin, demonstrate how your background meshes with MorganFranklin’s needs and culture, and just be yourself.
If you could only choose one song to play every time you walked into a room for the rest of your life, what would it be and why?
Don’t Stop Believin’ by Journey. It is an inspiring song, and for some reason, I never get tired of hearing it.
What would your autobiography be titled?
A Life Well Lived.
