Michael Orozco
MANAGING DIRECTOR, CYBERSECURITY ADVISORY SERVICES LEADER
Michael Orozco is responsible for expanding the go-to-market strategy for MorganFranklin’s Cybersecurity Advisory Services practice, delivering cybersecurity strategy, board of director services, and creating comprehensive cyber defense and hardening strategies. Michael works closely with clients to advance their cybersecurity maturity models and optimize their organizational effectiveness while meeting the desired enterprise risk tolerances and supporting business growth objectives. Michael helps successful companies make informed choices about how to optimize their technology portfolio and where to focus their cyber & IT investments to support their market growth strategies while mitigating their cyber vulnerabilities.
Michael possesses over 20 years of strategy, operational, and technical experience as a cybersecurity expert, defining and leading initiatives focused on cyber defense, incident response, cloud, risk mitigation, and compliance. He has worked extensively across the United States, Eastern and Western Europe, and Latin America where he has addressed nation-state adversaries, criminal syndicate, insider threats, and advanced persistent threats in both premise and cloud architectures at the nexus of cyber, financial crimes, and national security.
Prior to joining MorganFranklin, Michael was a senior leader with full profit and loss responsibilities whose work has enabled and impacted the design and implementation of new Target Operating Models in leading financial services firms where he has led transformational projects focused on cyber defense, incident response, and risk/resilience. Michael has built and grown global consulting practices, serving the Boards and executive leaders of industry-leading financial services and pharma/biotech firms. He has served as Chief Information Security Officer, where he was responsible for managing regional operations and country-level technology & security standards, governance, regulatory, controls processes, and risk appetites. Michael is experienced in working with firms embracing cloud architectures, migrations, and blockchain. He has led transformation initiatives bridging technology and operations to enhance a client’s competitive position and user technology experience.
He began his consulting career at KPMG and became a Partner and the lead for their Cybersecurity, Risk, and Resilience efforts. He has also held global leadership positions at other Tier 1 firms including Accenture where he has led and grown global teams focused on mission critical security programs.
Michael has received congressional awards from the U.S. Senate and U.S. House of Representatives for Humanitarian of the Year and Outstanding and Invaluable Service to the Community respectively. He also received citations from the state of New York and borough of Brooklyn, earning awards such as the Exemplary Public Service Award, Distinguished Public Service Award, and Humanitarian of the Year. He is a published thought leader, and he has been a frequent speaker at industry conferences and media.
Michael earned B.A. in finance and psychology from Rutgers University. He holds industry certifications including Certified Information Security Auditor (CISA), Certified Data Privacy Solutions Engineer (CDPSE), Certified in Governance of Enterprise IT (CGEIT), Certified in Risk and Information Systems Control (CRISC), Certified Project Management Professional (PMP), and AWS – Certified Solution Architect Professional (AWS-CSAP). He also is a Certified Advanced Rescue Scuba Diver, Certified Active-Duty Volunteer Firefighter, and Certified Swiftwater Rescue Operator.
