Wounded Warrior Project
The Wounded Warrior Project is an organization that helps men and women severely injured in the armed forces connect with the agencies they need, ensure the legislative representation they deserve, gain equal access to employment opportunities and obtain outreach assistance. Established in 2002, the Wounded Warrior Project provides services to the wounded and their families during the critical time between their initial rehabilitation during active duty and their eventual transition to civilian life.


Leukemia & Lymphoma Society
The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society is the world's largest voluntary health organization dedicated to funding blood cancer research, education and patient services. The Society's mission: Cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease and myeloma, and improve the quality of life of patients and their families. Since its founding in 1949, the Society has investedmore than $550.8 million for research specifically targeting blood cancers.

 

Greater DC Cares
Greater DC Cares is the leading coordinator of volunteering and business philanthropy in the Washington region. They are a network of thousands of volunteers and hundreds of nonprofits and businesses working together to make DC the best place to live and work. They provide grants to nonprofit organizations to help build their capacity. Their grants are in the form of community assets other than dollars. They strongly believe these readily available resources – volunteers, pro-bono consultants, nonprofit board members, goods and services – are just as valuable as dollars! Greater DC Cares connects them with grantmakers’ dollars for even greater effect.


Avon Foundation Breast Cancer Crusade
The mission of the Avon Foundation Breast Cancer Crusade is to raise funds and awareness for advancing access to care and finding a cure for breast cancer, with a focus on the medically underserved. From its launch in 1992 through 2006, the multi-faceted initiatives of the Avon Breast Cancer Crusade have raised and awarded more than $450,000,000 to the breast cancer cause worldwide. Funding is awarded to five areas: breast cancer education and awareness, screening and diagnosis, access to treatment, support services and scientific research. Avon now supports programs for breast cancer in some 50 countries around the world.

Arlington Police/Fire/Sherriff 9-11 Memorial 5-K
Several years after the September 11 attacks, the Arlington Memorial 5K Race continues to provide an avenue for businesses and residents to give something back, to remember the victims and to honor the firefighters and police officers who responded that day. The race course takes runners past the repaired west wall of the Pentagon. The race supports several charities such as the Pentagon Memorial Fund, NY/NJ Transit Police Fund, Survivors Fund, Paralyzed Veterans of America, American Red Cross, Special Operations Warrior Foundation and several others.

 

Cystic Fibrosis Foundation
Since 1955, the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation has been the driving force behind the pursuit of a cure. Thanks to the dedication and financial backing of our supporters--patients, families and friends, clinicians, researchers, volunteers, individual donors, corporations and staff-they are making a difference.

 

Greater Washington Sports Alliance Annual Sneaker Ball
This Sports Alliance flagship annual gala continues to raise more money in support of youth programs each year while saluting worthy local sports icons by inducting them in the Hall of Champions, connecting the business community to the League of Charities, and providing an elegant and fun atmosphere.

The American Heart Association
The American Heart Association is a national voluntary health agency whose mission is: "Building healthier lives, free of cardiovascular diseases and stroke."

The Brad Kaminsky Foundation for Brain Tumor Research
The mission of the foundation is to raise awareness of brain tumors and raise funds for research so that effective treatments and ultimately, A CURE, may be found. They are also dedicated to providing support and resources to those affected by this horrible disease, and will work with other organizations for the betterment of all patients and families so as to bring about a cure as quickly as possible.
